THANK YOU
We want to thank you all. It was so nice to have a warm place to come to, and all that good food. Thanks again for the warmth of your smiles and for serving us. God bless all of you.
The Hyskell Family
Dear "Angel Tree" friends at C.B.C.O.G.
Thank you for the generous donations of Christmas gifts for our students! I wish you could have seen the faces of the recipients of those gift bags! Some couldn't fathom that people they don't even know would care about them!!
You have put your "feet to your faith" and made a huge difference.
Blessings, Wendy Huffman, Southmoreland School Nurse
Thank you for all your prayers and encouraging cards. We could not do our work in Haiti without caring people like you. Your prayers help build home, furnish water, help with gardening projects and most of all encourage others and spread God's Word.
We pray God's richest blessings on you all and your church. Steve & Shirley Mossburg, Project Help Haiti
IN SYMPATHY
Dorothy Corwin (Member at Center Bethel)

ARE YOU A SINGLE PARENT?
Our Underground Church in Latrobe is sponsoring a series of meetings for single parenting in January-May, 2012. During the meetings they will be studying from Focus on the Family’s “The Power of Love – The Essentials of Parenting” series. This series shows how to enrich and enjoy the bond between your child and yourself. You’ll also discover that when it comes to passing along your faith and values, a good relationship with your son or daughter is the sharpest tool in every parent’s toolbox.
For more information contact Amy Showers at 724-423-6204 or e-mail her at ams2girl@yahoo.com or you can contact Pastor Jeff Keys at 724-879-4062 or check out the church’s web site at www.undergroundchurchlatrobe.com

EXERCISE CLASSES
Exercise is a great way to feel better, ward off/reduce some physical conditions, and give God the glory in stewardship of the body He has given us!
SpiritFit Aerobics is held on Monday evenings at 6:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Becky Rodriguez is in charge of this class.
SpiritFit Gold, a senior exercise class, meets Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. This class is for seniors or those with physical limitations such as various forms of arthritis and other issues which would benefit from gentler exercise. Donna Ottenberg is conducting this class.
All classes are open to women, men and teens 14 and up. These classes are all free. If you have questions, call the church office.
CAMP SONRISE MOUNTAIN ADOPT-A-CABIN
The Camp Board of Directors is continuing to raise funds for the Adopt-A-Cabin program. Funds have been secured for the building of three new cabins. The total amount raised so far is $257,000.
Work has now started on the new cabins. The walls and roofs are now up and work is continuing both inside the cabins and on the outside. The new cabins will be available for Arctic Blast in February.
Individuals and churches are still being asked to support this project. As more funds are received more cabins can be replaced.
ELEVATOR/ROOF FUND
In September 2008 the church made its first payment on an $80,000 loan for the elevator and roof. The loan was for 15 years or 180 payments. Through your efforts the balance now due is $15,494. If we were to pay the loan off we would save over $22,000 in interest. Our efforts are ongoing to make extra payments whenever possible. We will continue to apply available cash toward the loan while paying our other obligations. This is an advisory as to the progress that has been made in three year’s time. Putting this expense behind us would help as we prepare for our next pastor to come forward.
If you can contribute to this fund, just put your donation in an envelope marked “Elevator/Roof” and put it in the offering plate.
ANNUAL CHURCH FLEA MARKET & BAKE SALE Saturday, April 21 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
There will be a $2.00 bag sale at 1:30 p.m. (Everything you can put in a bag for $2.00)
Please save this date and plan on spending some time with your church family. We are in need of your gently used, new, clean items, children’s items, toys, electronics, books, household goods, old crafts, jewelry, linens, glass, paper supplies and cookware, whatever you no longer need and can share. Also we will be asking you to donate your delicious baked goods for the sale. This is always a crowd favorite.
Your items can be left (in boxes, please) in the hallway by the furnace room.
Anyone who has helped know this is a big project and require many hours of preparation, please get involved. We need your help.
The church will be open Thursday and Friday, April 19th and 20th from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to drop off your items or if you can give us assistance in setting up the tables.
If you have any questions, please contact Donna at the office (724-887-8259) or Peggy Baker at 724-887-8956.
FOR SALE
There are several small tables and desks available for sale, leftovers from the Flea Market. They are located outside Nick Ritz's classroom (next to the parsonage basement). They are very reasonably priced and need a home. Contact the church office or Peggy Baker for more information.
CHURCH ELDERS
In Acts 20, Paul reveals a special relationship he had with the elders of Ephesus. Paul asked them to come to him before he traveled to Jerusalem He showed confidence in them for he did not know what awaited him. We also should call on the elders as we face uncertainty and concerns. Here, our elders are ready to listen to you and share in the concern over the uncertainties that we experience in life.
REMEMBER OUR MILITARY
Several of our church family are currently in the military. They would appreciate you dropping them a few lines. Their addresses are: Michelle (Bowman) Gallardo and Jason Potoka

CAN YOU HELP US RECYCLE? Recycling (creation care) can be rewarding. Help turn something used into something useful again. Let's respect our God given environment and make a better tomorrow by reusing rater that throwing it away.
Aluminum cans - The youth and children of the Sunday School are recycling aluminum beverage cans to help raise money for the Elevator/Roof Funds. If you could save your used pop cans and bring them to the church it would be appreciated. There is a bin set up behind the fellowship hall near the entryway to the Sr High classroom for your convenience. See Pam Bowman if you wish further information about this project.
Aluminum pop can tabs - They are collecting the tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Give these items to any elementary or primary student. Any questions, please contact DeAnna Horak.
Cell phones can be deposited in the marked collection boxes. The church receives cash for each phone then the phones are recycled for use. Look for the receptacles at several locations in the church.
Ink jet cartridges can be recycled and the church receives cash for each recycled cartridge we turn in. Dispose of your used cartridges in the receptacle in the Coat Room and help the church and the enviornment.
Used Calendars Christmas Cards - Don't discard your used 2008 calendars and Christmas cards. Bring them to the church to be used for various projects. You will find a basket located near the elevator entrances downstairs and upstairs in which you can put your cards and calendars. Thank you for your help with this.
Campbells UPC - These go to a private Christian school in VA that uses them to purchase vans for transportation. For more info on the school go to mountainmissionschool.org Please give UPC's to Pam Bowman
Box Tops For Education - these are for the Southmoreland Elementary Schools also. Please give to any SPC or SES students or Pam Bowman
Plastic bottle caps - These go to help an 8 year old with her chemo treatments in the Greensburg aream Please give these to Pam Bowman
Plastic Shopping Bags - Walmart and most stores utilizing these bags will recycle them
Any Paper- (newspaper, magazines, school papers, etc) There are green bins located @ Ruffsdale Elementary & the SPC School in Alverton for paper only. The paper is recycled & money is given to Southmoreland.
Metal Food Cans and Cardboard can be recycled at the nearby landfill. Go in the main entrance on the way to Scottdale and the person at the scale office will direct you to the appropriate drop-off bins.
Recycle Your Pennies - Remember the youth are collecting pennies for the Penny Pile for Camp Sonrise Mountain. Just bring all your pennies on Penny Pile Sunday, the first Sunday of each month.
Save your recyclable items for the church and schools. Why throw these items away, when you can help the lives of others.
